"Wolves at the Gate" is the second episode of the last and final installment of Spartacus series saga. It is directed by Jesse Warn and written by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing. The said episode was a success but compare to the first episode it was little bit low of viewers. However, we can say it was indeed a very satisfying episode. Due to now grow population of his men, Spartacus comes up with a plan of going after Rome's market where foods are being stored. But the city is well guarded, although there were two ways to penetrate the city, but the last option was out of the question that then leaves them of choosing the well-guarded gate. The gate was built strong and only traders or those who have invitation can penetrate. Swords as well are being surrendered and guests are being question of what business they have inside. For men who soon will starve, no danger will come they won't face as Spartacus enters the Roman gate.
He have then witness how a man condemned because he stole food to his journey to find and join Spartacus revolts. As a punishment, he will be punish to death in a way people throw stones upon him. Spartacus sees it, and the only thing he can do for the poor guy is to end his suffering. He throw stone straight upon the man’s head bringing him into his death.
On the other hand, Julius Caesar was finally introduced. As we have expected, the man loves pain and have no patience in everything. He loves brawling everyone around him, but it seems Marcus Licinius Crassus knows how to tame him. They both never wasted time and made a plan of how they will cut Spartacus head. For young Tiberius Licinius Crassus, he was done doing nothing and thinks it is time to honor his father. He have ask his father of leading his armies which Marcus never hesitated to allows. However, it seems that the man care no more if his sons lead his armies or not, because he and Caesar have something more sinister in their minds. Soon, the rebellions fear is about to come in the most unexpected way, for the meantime, they could enjoy the victory they have gain in the city.
Yep, Spartacus and his men now own the city. That was after killing those Roman's and stopping the food from almost burning. Child and women are no free for their angry. in order to save the precious grains from being destroyed. These aren’t bad people, but the absolute desperation for food and shelter forces Spartacus’s hand. His explanation to Laeta that he shares her pain due to all the death he has experienced felt more like he was trying to convince himself that he was doing the right thing than comfort her.
Anyway, the series is just starting and we knew we didn't see the half of it. So, let us just continue embracing what the series got in store for us and enjoy every bit of Spartacus: War of the Damned.
